Richard has worked in conservation since 1979 and has attended conservation courses with The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, English Heritage, West Dene and elsewhere. He has developed a strong awareness of the conservation philosophy of Historic Structures and is able to apply his experience to provide in depth investigations and surveys identifying well reasoned proposals with priorities for future capital and maintenance works. He has a proven record of designing and managing conservation works on site with tight cost control over project expenditure. He is on the RICS list of Accredited Conservation Surveyors. |
During this period he was instrumental in introducing a full planned maintenance system for all buildings and structures in the Regions and for computerising the building records. He
instigated the reintroduction of the traditional methods of lime pointing,
rendering and lime washing and developed a programme of trials and training
for in house staff.

Whilst with Cliveden he was responsible for the day to day management of the projects organising resources and financial control with an annual turnover of £1 million. He left the company in 1995 to set up in private practice in Petersfield operating throughout the South of England.
